I was saving it for a LOOONG time, because it is LOOONG and because I knew I would love it I wanted to make sure I found the right night. And I did!
RRR is a pretty healthy way to process colonial trauma. I do think it definitely has some toxic masculinity, but it's so over the top that it's clearly in on the joke in some way. Tied to that is the matter of the loads of violence, that of course feels/is necessary when facing oppression, but the glorification of it still sits with me. But the joy it gave me (and still does!) overall vanquishes all those other things about it.
And I think you'll be proud of Ol' Andy's new reel.
